The April 10th Foundation was established on 28th April 2010. Its goal is to help children of the victims of the Smolensk air crash, children of victims of other catastrophes and disasters and also children whose parents died on duty while serving the country. The main goal of the Foundation is to meet the educational needs of the children under its care (among others, by grants or education-related support).
The Foundation is a joint initiative of business community. Its founders include the largest companies operating in Poland. The funding is provided by such companies as Agora, Asseco Poland, Aviva, Citi Handlowy / Bank Handlowy w Warszawie, BZ WBK, Canal+, Fiat Polska, PGNiG Ignacy Łukasiewicz Foundation, PZU Foundation, Grynhoff Woźny Maliński, Impel, ING Bank Śląski, Kulczyk Holding, Maspex, Netia, P4 / Play, Pekao SA, PGE, Philip Morris, PKN Orlen, PKO Bank Polski, TAURON Polska Energia and Telekomunikacja Polska / Orange. In addition, BRE Bank and Huawei Polska have already declared that they would like to join the Foundation as founding members.
The governing bodies of the Foundation will be appointed during the first Founders' Meeting which is planned in the 2nd half of May. Pursuant to the Charter, members of the governing bodies of the Foundation will perform their services free of charge and will not receive any remuneration in relation to holding positions in those bodies.
