Tauron Polska Energia implemented Microsoft Office Enterprise Project Management (EPM) – an IT tool which enables to optimize project management and strategic projects portfolio management in the TAURON Group and to track progress of currently executed projects.
“The need to implement EPM system resulted from the need to standardise, organise and centralise management of information connected with a large number of project initiatives that have been launched under the implemented “Corporate strategy for the TAURON Group for 2008 to 2012 with estimates up to the year 2020”, said Stanisław Tokarski, TAURON’s Vice-President of the Management Board, Chief Strategy & Business Development Officer. The system enables to evaluate, analyse and archive data concerning all strategic projects executed within the Group. Also, dedicated reports and statements may be generated describing progress of individual projects including such information as schedule, budget, risks, compliance with strategy.
The main focus was put on implementation of PRINCE2 methodology. The system also offers project management support at a very detailed level. The EPM was connected to TAURON intranet sites dedicated to project documentation management. Thus, a uniform environment could be created for management of managerial and operational information about all project initiatives executed in the Group. Currently, EPM is the basic tool used to register and report data and information concerning strategic projects.
