Applications to participate in the procedure were submitted in tenders announced by Elektrownia Stalowa Wola S.A. for construction of a 400 MW gas and steam power unit. Twelve offers were received in the tender for general contractor, and five offers were received in the tender for contract engineer. The company plans to complete the procedures in the first half of 2011.
Earlier, on 11 October 2010, the President of the Office for Competition and Consumer Protection approved the planned concentration consisting in establishment by TAURON Polska Energia S.A. and PGNiG of a joint venture in the form of a special purpose vehicle named Elektrociepłownia Stalowa Wola (EC Stalowa Wola).
The maximum cost of investment is estimated at approx. PLN 1.9 billion and the completion of the project is planned for the second half of 2014. Gas fuel will be delivered by PGNiG. The technology used in this project will guarantee high efficiency of the power unit and meeting all the environmental requirements.
The partners plan to equally share both, the rights and obligations connected with the project.
Construction of the gas and steam power unit in Stalowa Wola is in line with the corporate strategy of the TAURON Group which stipulates, among other things, greater diversification in the generation segment by using gas fuel.
