TAURON Group develops competence in nuclear power

 The first edition of postgraduate course in nuclear energy organized by Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza in Cracow has been completed. On 5 November the rector of the university, professor, PhD Antoni Tajduś and the head of the studies, professor, PhD Stefan Taczanowski handed diplomas to 37 employees of the TAURON Group who completed the course. 
 
In pursuit of its corporate strategy concerning nuclear power, in the first place the company decided to initiate actions aimed at development of its employees’ knowledge. In 2009 a postgraduate course was started in cooperation with Cracow-based AGH called “Nuclear power in today’s power industry” and dedicated to nuclear power issues and strategic energy technologies. This was a 1-year postgraduate course attended by employees of key companies of the Tauron Group, including mainly engineers and also lawyers and economists.   
 
- “Tauron decided to develop competences in the field of nuclear power in accordance with the corporate strategy adopted at the end of 2008. Cooperation with AGH on development of this course and on the execution of the project went very well”, said Dariusz Lubera, President of the Management Board of Tauron Polska Energia S.A. during the ceremony at the end of the course.
 
- “Tauron is an advanced company. To maintain such an opinion we need to develop our employees’ skills constantly which and execute the programme to improve employees qualifications. The course is a part of this ambitious programme”, said professor, PhD Antoni Tajduś.  
 
During the course, specialists from the Group’s companies also exchanged their experiences with European and global companies that own or are currently building nuclear power plants.
