Optimization of electricity purchase costs is the main subject of the series of conferences organized by Tauron Polska Energia S.A. in cooperation with Forbes magazine. The first meetings were held in Poznań and Katowice.
The first meeting under Forbes&TAURON Business Forum was held on 16 November 2010 in Poznań and it was attended by about a hundred entrepreneurs operating in Wielkopolska region. Then, on 25 November 2010 another meeting was held in Katowice for businessmen from Silesia region.
Ireneusz Perkowski, President of the Management Board at Enion Energia Sp. z o.o. said: “We want to offer our business clients the best quality offer and support by dedicated account managers. We also want to create a platform to communicate with our clients, large companies, which would not only facilitate cooperation but also bring numerous benefits for both parties. That is why we decided to organize a series of conferences called Forbes&TAURON Business Forum. We invite entrepreneurs from all over the country to participate. The main subject is optimization of energy costs. During the conferences we show, together with independent experts, the possible methods of cost reduction. Moreover, our partner – the Forbes magazine – invites to discussion and introduces persons who know almost everything about business.”
The first conference
During the Poznań conference on cost reduction in companies there was a panel discussion between, among others, Magdalena Kowalak, CFO at Fortis Nowy Stary Browar, Ireneusz Perkowski, President of the Management Board at Enion Energia sp. z o.o., Andrzej Zwierzchowski, member of the Management Board at Hydrobudowa Polska S.A. – winner of the “Forbes Diamonds 2010” for large companies, and a representative from A.T. Kearney.
The Special Guest who sat on the so-called “Forbes Sofa” was Marian Nickel, Vice-President of the Management Board at Business Centre Club, chancellor at Loża Wielkopolska (regional lodge that is a part of Business Centre Club) and an entrepreneur – he is the president of Przedsiębiorstwo Techniczno-Budowlane “Nickel”. Mr. Nickel in a conversation with Forbes executive editor explained how to be successful on the Polish and other markets.
During the conference, Regional Forbes Corporate Social Responsibility Awards were given to companies that implement CSR. The winners are companies that, on the one hand, grow dynamically and are members of the elite club of “Forbes Diamonds” and, on the other hand, run their business responsibly. The winners were selected in a survey run by Forbes in September. The first place in Wielkopolska region in the Forbes ranking went to PBG S.A.
Katowice conference
The main subject of the Katowice conference was the so-called “Forbes Sofa” interview. The Special Guest was Dariusz Lubera, President of the Management Board at Tauron Polska Energia S.A. who talked about his career path and also answered questions concerning the future of the power sector and Tauron, among others, from the point of view of investments in securities. During the conference, Regional Forbes Corporate Social Responsibility Awards were given to companies that implement CSR. Forbes executive editor held an interview with one of the winners – Mr. Jerzy Kozicz, the President of the Management Board at CMC Zawiercie. The first prize went to Fiat Auto Poland.
Six cities, six conferences
Forbes&TAURON Business Forum conferences are held at the turn of November and December 2010 in six cities. The last one was held on 25 November in Katowice, then there will be one in Wrocław (2 December), Warsaw (8 December) and Sopot (16 December).
