TAURON in WIG20 index

After the session of 17 December 2010, TAURON Polska Energia will be included in the index of twenty biggest companies listed at the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The Katowice – based Group will occupy the eight place in WIG20, with 4% share.
 
 
Entering WIG20 is the consequence of quarterly revision of indices performed by the WSE, based on data after the last session of January, April, July and October. WIG20 index has been calculated since 1994, on the basis of the value of stock portfolio of 20 biggest and most liquid companies of the primary stock market.
- TAURON’s entering into the index of the biggest companies meets our expectations and confirms the strong position of the Group at the capital market. Considerable interest in TAURON is not only the consequence of good financial results but also of numerous meetings with analysts and managing investors. We have held about 200 of such meetings this year and we participated in several conferences organized by institutions of the stock market. Since July, the stocks of TAURON are included in MSCI Poland Standard Index – the index which, particularly for foreign investors, is the benchmark for portfolios managers and the basis for investment decision-making. Due to the Katowice company having entered the index WIG20, the Management Board of the Stock Exchange has decided to trade futures contracts for TAURON Polska Energia SA. shares.
In November 2010, TAURON was awarded with the title of the company of the quarter by journalists of „Pulsu Biznesu” and it was included among the ten top favorite companies of the stock market analysts. The awards resulted from good financial results, increase of the share price, numerous positive recommendations of analysts as well as forecast of inclusion in WIG20 index. In the third quarter, both the operating profit and the net profit of TAURON were several percent higher than the average expected by the analysts. After the three quarters of the current year, the Group achieved revenue on sales amounting to PLN 11 billion, EBITDA of PLN 2.16 billion as well as net profit of PLN 825 million, which improves the result by 9 percent, 5 percent and 6 percent, respectively, as compared to results of the corresponding period of 2009. The good results of the Katowice – based company were reflected in numerous recommendations „Buy” issued by analysts of national and foreign brokerage houses.
TAURON floated on the Warsaw Stock Exchange 30 June 2010, since that day the share prices ranged from PLN 5.13 to PLN 6.79, which indicates the jump by 32.4 percent. The market value of the Group increased from PLN 8 to 11.9 billion. In the same period, the WIG index went up by 20.6 percent, while WIG 20 rose by 21.3 percent, which indicates that the Tauron stocks were reacting better than the market. In November, the average turnover of the company shares per session amounted to almost PLN 44 million while the average number of transactions per session reached 2000.
