On 25th July, Thermal-Electric Power Station EC Nowa, which belongs to TAURON Group, and ArcelorMittal Poland signed a contract for provision and consumption of power utilities concerning energy carriers, fuel gas and other products. A scale of the financial turnover between the companies within five years which contract covers is estimated at approximately 2 bln PLN.
-The agreement signed between ArcelorMittal Poland and EC Nowa belonging to TAURON Group opens a new chapter in our cooperation. So far, ArcelorMittal Poland was one of our key clients, and thanks to the agreement it has now become a business partner of the TAURON Group. One of the key elements of the deal is defining the scope of investments undertaken by Thermal-Electric Power Station EC Nowa in order to secure the needs of the strategic partner - ArcelorMittal Poland and determining conditions necessary to achieve a return on the investment, as an effect of fulfillment of the agreement. The Power Station is preparing to build a pass-out and condensing turbine generator with a total power output of 50 MW, which is supposed to substitute the two currently exploited turbine generators with a power output of 25 MW each. The purpose of the investment is to secure delivery of electric energy and technological heat to ArcelorMittal Poland and residential heat to Heat Power Company in Dąbrowa Górnicza with an accompanying improvement of technical and economic production indicators.
Management boards of Thermal-Electric Power Station EC Nowa and ArcelorMittal Poland have committed themselves to resume talks about a long-term contract regulating terms of cooperation for a period of at least 15 years. Signing the contract is planned to take place during the term of the current agreement.
