TAURON Dystrybucja opened a new 110/20 kV electrical substation – Brochocin. It will receive electricity generated at Modlikowice and Łukaszów wind farms located in Lower Silesia.
The first wind farms operating in the territory covered by TAURON Dystrybucja branch in Legnica – in Modlikowice and Łukaszów – consist of 29 wind farms of 86 MW total target capacity. At present, they are the largest wind farms in the Lower Silesia and Opole Provinces. They could not function without the electrical substation and that is why the 110/20 kV Brochocin substation was set up. The Legnica branch of TAURON Dystrybucja completed the investment in less than 8 months. The substation is able to receive as much electricity per month as is necessary to supply to an industrial town with 100 thousand inhabitants. At present, Brochocin substation is equipped with a 110/20 kV transformer of 16 MVA, but a place for installation of yet another unit is now being prepared. The substation was built using state-of–the-art technologies. The commissioning ceremony was held on 18 January.
