TAURON builds another wind farm

TAURON Ekoenergia of the TAURON Group signed agreement for construction of 40 MW Wicko wind farm together with turbine supply. The agreement was signed on 29 June with Aldesa, who was selected in a tender procedure.

The farm will be built by a consortium composed of Aldesa Nowa Energia with its registered office in Krakow (consortium leader) and Aldesa Construcciones with its registered office in Madrid (partner). Apart from the construction of the wind farm, the agreement also covers a 3-year guarantee service.

The 40 MW farm will be built in Wicko, which is located in Lębork district in Westpomeranian province. The PLN 243.76 million worth agreement will be executed in 15 months.

“The TAURON Group has already purchased shares in two SPVs holding designs of Wicko and Marszewo wind farms. The construction of Marszewo has been divided into two stages, and has already commenced. “Works are performed according to schedule. Now the construction of the Wicko wind farm commences”, said Dariusz Lubera, President of the Management Board at TAURON Polska Energia.

The Wicko wind farm is the fourth wind farm in the structure of the TAURON Group. On 28 September 2011 TAURON Ekoenergia purchased 30.75 MW Lipniki wind farm located in the south-west part of Opole province, in the territory of Kamiennik commune (Nysa district). Also, upon acquisition of Górnośląski Zakład Elektroenergetyczny on 13 December 2011, TAURON acquired a 30 MW wind farm in Zagórze near Wolin. Construction of 82 MW Marszewo wind farm is underway.
