Eighth edition of TAURON Polska Energia’s campaign “Positive Energy Homes” whose aim is to help orphanages in the territory of the Group’s operations has finished. On 11 October during the Great Final five winners received checks for PLN 50 thousand each. In addition, the jury awarded two special prizes of PLN 10 thousand each.
This year’s edition started in April. The organizers – TAURON Polska Energia, TAURON Dystrybucja and the TAURON Foundation – invited kids from orphanages located in the territory of the Group’s operation to participate in the competition.
“Positive Energy Homes is TAURON Group’s original campaign organized since 2005, first in Lower Silesia and for the past two years in the entire territory of the Group’s operation. This year almost 80 orphanages decided to participate. It proves that the campaign is popular and wanted, so we are going to continue it as a strategic CSR project of the TAURON Group”, said Dariusz Lubera, President of the Management Board at TAURON Polska Energia.
This year, as part of the competition, the orphanages prepared illustrated books titled “Adventures of young bull Tauronek – exploring the history of electricity”. Their main character is the mascot of the TAURON Group. In June the jury selected 15 teams who competed in the finals.
“It is our ambition that all facilities taking part in the campaign become Positive Energy Homes. It is not only the financial support that matters and is definitely crucial for the orphanages, but also stimulating the creativity of the kids who cooperate on their works, and judging by their quality we can see they put all efforts in their preparation. That is why it has always been very difficult to choose the winners. We want the galas, both the semi-final and the final, to be events that the kids would remember”, said Dariusz Stolarczyk, Vice-President of the Management Board for Corporate Affairs at TAURON Polska Energia.
The final and the semi-final were arranged to take place in a knight’s castle and the kids had many attractions awaiting them – mimes, clowns and bubble blowers, face painting, cake cutting, chivalry shows, castle walking tours. The kids could also meet and have a picture taken with sportsmen, such as Greg Hancock – two-time Speedway World Champion, basketball players from the TAURON Basket League and football players from the Polish Champion Team – Śląsk Wrocław. They could also sit on a speedway motor, and play basketball or football with the stars.
The campaign “Positive Energy Homes” is aimed at improving the living conditions of children in orphanages located in the territory of TAURON Group’s operations (provinces: Upper Silesia, Lower Silesia, Lesser Poland, Opole, Subcarpathian)
